Network Marketing success tips: 8 reasons why people fail in home-based businesses – PART II

Here is part 2 in the series of 8 reasons why people fail in home-based businesses

REASON #2: Lack of SERIOUSNESS

Majority of the people who enter into the arena of home-based business come from an employment / Job background. They think that a home-based business is a small-time enterprise. They are under the impression that a real business should be something like a brick & mortar type of business, which involves huge capital, office space and the works. Their minds cannot home in to the fact that a home-based business, with minimal investment, can help them earn Real business-like income. The result? They decide to try the business rather than work the business.

With this mentality in place, people do not take serious action into working their business. Of course, one of the benefits of running a home-based business lies in its flexible working hours, but most people with the JOB mentality misunderstand its actual implication. They think that a home-based business is something that you do when there is FREE time (A serious entrepreneur knows that there is nothing known as free time). This leads to a greater dilemma, inconsistency. People then try to do the business in a random manner, they do not plan, they do what they feel like when they feel like; and they are not disciplined.

Consider this for a moment. Say you are engaged in a 9 to 5 job, and your style of working is such that you decide to go on a Monday, then skip Tuesday, call in sick on a Wednesday, show up on Thursday and a Friday. Do you think you will last in this job? Of course, you will be fired! Why? INCONSISTENCY. Thats why. Its obvious that you do not take the job seriously! The same applies in a business, folks. If you do not take the business seriously, then the business WILL fire you!

So, if you are an entrepreneur reading this, and not progressing as you expected, then do yourself a favor and check whether you are taking your business seriously or not. Get serious, Plan your activities, Have a weekly time schedule on how to run the business and work your business like how your boss at work runs his company/organization. Do that and no one can stop you from succeeding as an entrepreneur.

Network Marketing success tips: 8 reasons why people fail in home-based businesses – PART III

Welcome to the 3rd part of the series ” 8 reasons why people fail in home based businesses”. Today, I will be covering, probably, the biggest killer of all. A good portion of home-based entrepreneurs back down due to this reason in their journey towards financial freedom. It is none other than DOUBT!

Doubt creeps in when your results do not meet your expectations. Sounds familiar? Where do you think the problem lies? Results or Expectations? As per my experience, it’s the expectation that is the culprit. Why? Because there is a general problem with the home-based network marketing industry, and that is OVER-PROMISES. In order to get the prospect to sign-up, the sponsors overpromise and ultimately under-deliver. New entrepreneurs come in with the idea of making big money in a very short time. You and I know that there is nothing known as easy and quick money in business, at least legitimately. You have to lay down the groundwork before results start to show.

Another area where Doubt rears it’s ugly head is when the new entrepreneur gets rejected by his family or friends. This gentleman, just a moment back, was all enthused and now due to the rejection suddenly starts doubting whether or not he will be able to convince others, when he couldn’t do the same with his own family/friends. These ill feelings crop up because the young entrepreneur takes the temporary setback personally. Here I would like to quote an important paragraph from the book ‘Think and Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill. Read and understand this carefully.

“The majority of people who fail to accumulate money sufficient for their needs, are, generally, easily influenced by the “opinions” of others. They permit the newspapers and the “gossiping” neighbours to do their “thinking” for them. If you are influenced by “opinions” when you reach DECISIONS, you will NOT SUCCEED in any undertaking”

I think that it is pretty self-explanatory. So what do you do to battle against this demon called ‘Doubt’? There are certain things that you can do to ensure that you stay on course…

1. Remind yourself of your definite major purpose for doing the business. Why are you doing the business in the first place? What is the reason for you to get into entrepreneurship? If your reason is not strong enough, then your spirit will weaken when opposition comes along (as it always does)

2. Educate yourself continually so that you fill the 6 inches between your ears with positive and empowering content. If your knowledge of your business, company or product is deep, then no matter what people say, you will know that they have not realized the truth yet. This gives you the chance to change their viewpoint, as you have more knowledge and information than they do.

3. Surround yourself with ONLY winners and those who will be in complete sympathy and harmony with your purpose. This is why you have mentors. Get in touch with them anytime you encounter one of these negative feelings. One of the mistakes, which I see people make is to hang out with fellow entrepreneurs who are in the same situation as them. This certainly will keep you from reaching your true potential. If you personally don’t know anybody who fits the above category, then choose authors, heroes, successful personalities as your mentor. Read their books and study how they made it. This will inspire you and keep your mind from tuning in to the frequency of deadbeats.

4. Create an action plan for your business on a weekly basis, and ensure that you diligently take the actions you have laid out. Remember Doubt is a feeling and feeling is something which is directly associated with actions. It’s said that if you change your actions, then your feelings will automatically change. When you have an action plan to look forward to, the past setbacks will quickly lose it’s importance and effect on you.

So remember…next time you encounter ‘doubt’ about the business you are in, follow the guidance given above and you will be motivated to stay on course and reach your destination.
